Nutritional Supplements Could Decrease Fracture Risk After Orthopedic, Spine Surgery

New research shows that nutritional supplements could decrease the risk of spine or joint fractures from vitamin D deficiency, according to a release from Top Doctors Labs.

Research has found more than 50 percent of patients have insufficient or deficient levels of vitamin D, which puts them at risk for spine or joint fractures.

Eric Westerlund, MD, a spine surgeon and founder of Top Doctors Labs, an advanced nutritional supplement firm, recently spoke with other professionals at the Management of Spinal Disorders conference about nutritional supplements. These supplements could reduce the risk of fractures and post-surgical healing complications in patients who have osteoporosis or other degenerative bone disorders.
