Novant Health names sports medicine director

Sports medicine physician Payton Fennell, DO, MBA, was named Novant Health’s primary care sports medicine director for the greater Charlotte, N.C., market.

Dr. Fennell is a former assistant team physician for the Carolina Hurricanes, according to an email sent to Becker’s Spine Review.

 He also served as the team physician for Lenoir-Rhyne College and as director of the FryeCare Sports Medicine and Concussion Clinic, both in Hickory, N.C.

Dr. Fennell received his degree in osteopathic medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. According to his LinkedIn, he recently received his masters from Auburn (Ala.) University Harbert College of Business.
