The new tool can be used on the sideline and combines a symptom checklist with a limited neurologic examination that includes a cognitive evaluation and balance assessment, according to the report. The tool was developed by the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Committee with input from the NFL team physicians and athletic trainers.
