Samaritan Medical Center is now left with three physicians who have privileges to treat these orthopedic conditions. The hospital is no longer able to maintain constant orthopedic coverage and estimates the hospital will lack orthopedic coverage 50 percent of the time.
The hospital is pursuing interim assistance through locum tenants for short-term assistance with orthopedic patients. Recruiting orthopedic surgeons has become a top priority at the hospital.
