Dr. Kabins will also be required to pay $3.5 million in restitution to the victim involved in the malpractice case, a former Olympian, who was paralyzed after a surgery in 2000 by Dr. Kabins, according to the report.
Dr. Kabins charge was part of an investigation into the fraudulent practices of a Nevada healthcare attorney who allegedly accepted kickbacks to help physicians avoid malpractice suits, according to the report.
