The assistant and pharmacist are David Litwin, also of Las Vegas, and Jason C. Smith, a Nevada-licensed pharmacist from Michigan, according to the report.
The indictment charged Dr. Wetselaar and Mr. Litwin of knowingly writing illegal prescriptions for drugs, including oxycodone, hydrocodone and Xanax, to patients who did not medically need them. Dr. Wetselaar and Mr. Litwin then allegedly directed patients to fill their prescriptions at Mr. Smith’s pharmacy.
All three individuals were charged with one count of conspiracy. Meanwhile, Dr. Wetselaar and Mr. Litwin also face eight counts of distributing oxycodone, among other charges.
