Neurosurgeon Fixes Trigeminal Neuralgia Pain With Piece of Felt

Dong Kim, MD, a neurosurgeon at Memorial Hermann Hospital and UT Health, used a piece of felt to cushion a patient’s trigeminal nerve, according to an ABC News report.

The nerve was being squeezed between two blood vessels, causing the patient extreme chronic pain.

Prior to the two-hour surgery, the patient had been reliant on prescription pain medication — often taking up to 30 pills a day. In the month since the surgery, she has reported no pain.
