The NSCC was founded by the American Football Coaches Association, Matthew Gfeller Foundation, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Matthew Gfeller Sports-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center and Rawlings Sporting Goods. The new organization is committed to helping protect athletes from concussions through prevention.
The NSCC plans on working with medical organizations to improve the safety of contact sports. It will have its founding organizational meeting in Chapel Hill, N.C., on May 2 to develop an agenda to pursue the most pressing concussion objectives.
