The policy was created by a committee of concussion experts, which will oversee how soon the players and umpires are able to return to play after a concussion. The policy goes into effect on Opening Day, according to the report.
The new policies also include the creation of a seven-day disabled list for players with concussions, designed to prevent players from returning to play too soon. Additionally, mandatory baseline neuropsychological testing has been required for players and umpires during spring training.
