The site, Minnesota Healthscores, reports on 103 common medical procedures from 110 providers who account for 85 percent of primary care in the state.

Health plans in the state contributed cost information to the site and more providers and procedures will be listed.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the new system was a bit slow and balky but it showed dramatic price variations for some services, such as a range of $402 to $1,354 for a colonoscopy.
