The patient was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right leg. Dr. Virkus removed six inches of the patient’s femur and rebuilt her knee to remove the osteosarcoma. The patient also underwent months of chemotherapy treatments and is now cancer-free.
Since her return to competitive swimming in 2010, the patient has won her sectional competition.
