Michael Jordan gifts Novant Health $7M to develop 2 clinics: 5 things to know

Michael Jordan donated $7 million to Novant Health to open two clinics in Charlotte, N.C., according to WFAE.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The clinics are scheduled to open in 2020 and will be developed in low-income areas.

 

2. Novant Health is designing the clinics to be one-stop shops for community members. The health system also hopes the clinics will reduce the number of unnecessary emergency room visits.

 

3. The clinical will provide patients physical therapy, dental care, social work and family planning services and behavioral health.

 

4. Novant Health predicts over five years the clinics will give 35,000 people easier access to care.

 

5. Mr. Jordan’s gift will cover the full cost of starting up the two clinics.
