Medtronic Consolidates Into Two Operating Units, Promotes Several Executives

Medtronic will consolidate its businesses into two operating units, one for cardiac and vascular products and the other for spinal, diabetes and surgical technologies, according to a news release from Medtronic.

Chris O’Connell, formerly president of the company’s Diabetes business, will become executive vice president of the new spinal, diabetes and surgical technologies group.

Reporting to Mr. O’Connell will be Bob Blankemeyer, senior vice president and president of Surgical Technologies; Steve La Neve, senior vice president and president of Spinal and Biologics; Katie Szyman, senior vice president and president of Diabetes; and Tom Tefft, senior vice president and president of neuromodulation.
