Despite reported challenges, compared with its March survey, there was an increase of respondents who thought their current software would permit them to use Version 5010, from 22.3 percent to 29 percent.

Current survey results also showed that 45.2 percent of respondents have not started implementation of Version 5010, a decrease from the survey in March, and 40 percent said that internal testing still has not been scheduled.

Medical groups must implement Version 5010 by Jan. 1, 2012, and MGMA has called for governmental contingency plans if the healthcare industry is not ready to meet the compliance date.
