In a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader John Boehner, 219 of the 435 members of the House urged “swift action” on extending the temporary increase in the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage to states for six months beyond Dec. 31, when the extra funds are due to run out.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the stimulus bill, provided for 27 months of enhanced FMAP funding, varying by state. “Without this funding, our states will be forced to make severe cuts to Medicaid providers and benefits,” the letter said.
