The six-OR, 24-bed Bucks County Specialty Hospital in Bensalem, Pa., has started performing a small number of surgeries and expects to begin joint replacement procedures later in the month.
The 60,000 square-foot facility, with its own ED, in-house imaging and kitchen, adjoins a 60,000-square-foot medical office building.
Rothman invested about $6 million in construction and $8-$9 million more to lease medical equipment for the hospital, which is a partnership with Nueterra Healthcare of Leawood, Kan.
Nueterra is also Rothman’s partner in the Riverview Surgery Center, now under construction at the old Philadelphia Navy Yard, and the Riddle Surgery Center, which opened last week next to Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.
In addition, Rothman has also been discussing a specialized surgical site in downtown Philadelphia with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, but plans have been on hold due to a difficult lending market.
