Exit physicals are performed at the season’s end and are an opportunity for players to identify, document and address injuries or conditions that occurred during the season, Dr. ElAttrache said in the report. The physicals also offer an opportunity to assign liability and the team’s responsibility for treatment, if the injury occurred during play as opposed to the off-season or during non-football activities.

The exam focuses on documenting injuries and complaints the player reports on a player-questionnaire.
