Ken Y. Hsu, MD (St. Mary’s Spine Center, San Francisco). Dr. Hsu is a senior spine surgeon at St. Mary’s Spine Centerand president of San Francisco Orthopaedic Surgeons Medical Group, a position he’s held since 2004. Dr. Hsu also serves a director of the St. Mary’s Spine Center, a position he’s held since 1988.

Dr. Hsu is a co-inventor of the X-STOP device, a minimally invasive surgical system for lumbar stenosis and the first interspinous decompression device to become FDA-approved. He was the first surgeon to perform pedicle screw fixation in the Western United States and participated in clinical trials for lumbar and cervical disc replacement.

Dr. Hsu earned his medical degree at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completed his orthopedic surgery residency through the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program. His additional training includes a fellowship in spine and pediatric orthopedic surgery at the University of Hong Kong in China.
