Judge Sentences Former Surgical Technician to Year Probation for HIPAA Violation

A former surgical instrument technician has been sentenced to a year of probation for violating HIPAA, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

Paul C. Pepala disclosed patient information when he worked as a surgical instrument technician at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh in 2008.
