The clinic was named for its founder, Eugene Jewett, MD, who opened the clinic in 1936. The practice now includes 24 physicians and seven clinics around the Orlando area. Dr. Jewett was also an inventor of several orthopedic and spine devices, including the Jewett hip nail, which incorporated a tri-flange design that gripped the bone and an additional side plate to go along the femur for increased stability.
Jewett physicians currently serve as team physicians for the Orlando Magic, Orlando Titans lacrosse team and the Orlando Ballet. The clinic hopes to build a new facility in the future to replace the flagship facility in Winter Park, Fla.
