Jeffrey R. Carlson, MD (Orthopaedic & Spine Center, Newport News, Va.). Dr. Carlson is president and managing partner of Orthopaedic & Spine Center, a practice he joined in 1999. He has a professional interest in less invasive spine surgery and is considered a thought leader in implementing outpatient spine surgery procedures and techniques.
Dr. Carlson is a member of the International Association for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and has been an instructor in orthopedic spine surgery at Harvard University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He previously served as chief of surgery at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News.
Dr. Carlson earned his medical degree from George Washington University and completed his residency at Harvard. His additional training includes an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and combined neurosurgical and orthopedic fellowship in spine surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
