Israeli Company Spins Off Orthopedics Unit

Lod, Israel-based BioProtect has spun off its orthopedics operations into a new company called Orthospace, according to a report from Globes Online.

BioSpace has developed SpaceGuard, a new technology that can be used by orthopedic surgeons as an implant in the shoulder of patients with massive tears in the muscle and tendon.

BioProtect has successfully completed a trial of the implant in Slovenia and has begun a trial in Israel.
