A prolific inventor, Dr. Sorbie’s best remembered invention was an artificial joint, the Questor elbow.
Born in Scotland, he graduated from Glasgow University and obtained his FRCS(E) after an orthopedic surgery fellowship at Harvard, then became head of the department of Surgery at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., Canada.
