Patients are allowed to imbibe only if their physicians have cleared that patient for alcohol consumption, which usually doesn’t occur until the second day post-surgery, according to the report. At Parkview, patients are typically given the go ahead to have 1-2 drinks per day if they are not on narcotics, according to the report.
While a spokesperson for the 37-bed hospital reports that most patients don’t make use of the BYOB policy, a number have brought in bottles of wine to enjoy during patients’ pre-discharge meal, which includes steak or salmon.
The hospital is one of a growing number to offer near-luxury amenities, such as fine dining and other services, in order to attract patients, according to the report.
