The surgery will take place June 5. Pictures and “play-by-play” updates will be tweeted under the account @WestSubMC on Twitter.
The Twittercast will follow Frederick Tiesenga, MD, director of minimally invasive surgery at West Suburban Medical Center, as he performs the surgery.
Dr. Tiesenga is the only surgeon in the state to perform the unique hybrid surgery to address hiatal hernia and GERD combining a single incision laparoscopic surgery and transoral incisionless fundoplication, according to the release.
