Idaho hospital implements new CT scan, increases imaging speed

Rexburg, Idaho-based Madison Memorial Hospital purchased a new CT scan to improve imaging speed and decrease radiation, according to Rexburg Standard Journal.

Here are four things to know:

1. The new CT scan was made by Cannon, and it can take up to 80 pictures, with a speed of 50 pictures a minute.

2. The hospital’s director of diagnostic services said the scanner is designed to be child friendly. The machine can lower to the ground and includes a TV screen to show procedure instructions to children.

3. The hospital can now use the scanner to take cardiac calcium scores.

4. Fifteen to 30 patients underwent a CT scan each day with the previous scanner.
