Drs. Gerhardt, Mandelbaum perform knee surgery on soccer star Bill Hamid — 5 things to know

On Jan. 13, orthopedic surgeons Michael B. Gerhardt, MD, and Bert Mandelbaum, MD, repaired D.C. United soccer player Bill Hamid’s meniscus, according to The Washington Post.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Mr. Hamid’s surgery comes in the wake of the MLS draft.

 

2. Drs. Gerhardt and Mandelbaum practice at Santa Monica (Calif.) Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Group.

 

3. Dr. Gerhardt serves as a team physician for the U.S. Soccer Men’s National Team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas USA and Pepperdine University.

 

4. Dr. Mandelbaum has worked with UCLA Athletic, and is currently a team physician for Pepperdine University, LA Galaxy and Chivas USA MLS teams.

 

5. Dr. Mandelbaum was the chief medical officer for L.A. 2015 Special Olympics World Games and for CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015.
