In January, Mat Provencher, MD, the Patriots’ former medical director, left his position for a job at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo.
Here are five key points on Dr. Price:
1. Specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery, Dr. Price serves as a team physician for the Boston Red Sox and orthopedic consultant for the Boston Bruins.
2. Having served in combat operations in Afghanistan, Dr. Price is currently a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
3. Dr. Price is an orthopedic surgery instructor at Boston-based Harvard Medical School.
4. Before joining Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Price practiced at UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. While at the university, he helped create a comprehensive shoulder program.
5. Dr. Price earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed residency training in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He finished his sports medicine and shoulder reconstructive surgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
