Here are four highlights:

1. In partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine’s Exercise is Medicine Initiative, ACES, a Youth Fitness Coalition signature program, promotes physical activity to children in order to decrease the prevalence of childhood obesity.

2. Project ACES also coincides with National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and National Physical Education Week.

3. Schools participating in the project can choose their activity, whether it’s walking, jogging, martial arts or dancing. Students typically exercise for 15 to 45 minutes following an educational component.

4. Project ACES was founded in 1989 by Len Saunders, a physical education teacher and childhood physical fitness advocate.
