Mr. Ming is still deciding how to proceed from the injury that sidelined him in early November, and surgery could mean he would have to wait for 10 months before returning to play. Mr. Ming also sat out last season after reconstructive surgery on a broken left foot.
Dr. Lowe said the new injury is related to the old injury, and that Mr. Ming has been prone to this type of injury throughout his career.
