The House Judiciary Committee voted to approve the Health Insurance Industry Antitrust Enforcement Act (H.R. 3596), which would eliminate federal antitrust immunities available for health and medical liability insurers for price fixing, bid rigging and market allocation, according to a report in AHANews Now.
A similar proposal (S. 1681) has been made by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), which the Senator intends to add to the healthcare reform measure when it is debated on the Senate floor, according to the report.
