1. Modus V is a robotic arm developed from International Space Station technology used to position astronauts, repair satellites and move cargo.
2. The robotic arm features a digital microscope which combines a high-powered microscope with a high-definition exoscope designed to enable surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with greater precision.
3. Modus V is used with Synaptive’s BrightMatter Plan and Guide, a surgical planning and navigation system that utilizes Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), which provides 3-D representations of patient-specific brain tracks.
4. The system may help surgeons develop routes for procedures such as tumor resections.
5. Modus V can also be used for minimally-invasive spine surgery. Modus V can also be combined with BrightMatter Plan and Guide for advanced cranial surgery including aneurysms, vascular lesions and skull-based procedures.
