Healthcare Sector Adds 28,500 Jobs in October

The healthcare sector continued to see growth in employment from Sept. 2009 to Oct. 2009, adding 28,500 jobs, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

Ambulatory healthcare services, which include ASCs and physicians’ offices, added 12,500 jobs, bringing total employment up from 5.87 million in Sept. 2009 to 5.89 million when seasonally adjusted (up from 5.87 million to 5.90 when not seasonally adjusted).

Physicians’ offices added 4,800 jobs, bringing total employment to 2.35 million, up from 2.34 million in Sept. 2009, when seasonally adjusted.

Hospitals added 10,000 jobs, bringing total employment up to 4.74 million, up from 4.73 million in Sept. 2009, when seasonally adjusted (4.75 million up from 4.73 million when not seasonally adjusted).
