Healthcare Employment Continues to Grow

The healthcare sector added around 20,000 jobs in July, in line with the average month gain seen in the first half of 2009, according to a news release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Preliminary, seasonally adjusted data show that ambulatory health services, which include ASCs and physician practices, added 9,600 jobs to the work force over the past month. Data that were not seasonally adjusted show an increase of 8,600 jobs.

Hospitals added 4,200 jobs, according to seasonally adjusted data. When not adjusted for seasonal data, hospitals added 16,100 jobs in July 2009.
