Geisinger plans new orthopedic, sports medicine facility

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger is planning a new orthopedic and sports medicine facility in Scranton, Pa., on Oct. 17, reports WMEP.

Three things to know:

1. The facility will take up two floors at the renovated shopping center — The Marketplace at Steamtown — in downtown Scranton.

2. This week, the health system launched Geisinger 65 Forward Health Center in Scranton, providing primary care Medicare services for patients over 65 years old.

3. Geisinger includes 13 hospitals and more than 1,800 physicians, providing care across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
