According to the report, in MAKOplasty, surgeons use a scan of the patient’s anatomy to create markers to marry the scan to the patient’s real knee using a remote navigation system. Through this procedure, the surgeon can more accurately place the implant.
The report also noted that MAKOplasty is performed through a small four-inch incision and leaves healthy bone and tissue intact.
Foundation Surgical Hospital is one of three hospitals in Texas to use this procedure, according to the report.
