Former Olympian Turned Orthopedic Surgeon Featured in the New York Times

Eric Heiden, MD, the five-time Olympic gold medalist in speed skating, is now an orthopedic surgeon treating a new generation of Olympic speed skaters, according to a feature story by the New York Times.

Dr. Heiden won his gold medals 30 years ago this coming February at the 1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The son of an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Heiden attended medical school at Stanford, trained with renowned orthopedic surgeons like James Andrews, MD, and is now medical director for the U.S. Olympic speed skating and cycling teams.
