Florida hospital acquires Mazor X, launches spine program: 3 things to know

Tampa, Fla.-based St. Joseph’s Hospital launched a robotic spine surgery program for pediatric and adult patients.

Here are three things to know:

1. St. Joseph’s installed Medtronic’s Mazor X robotic guidance system.

2. Mazor X’s 3D planning software is designed to create a comprehensive, patient-specific surgical plan. Surgeons can use the system to guide tool and implant placement according to the blueprint, and the system’s camera intraoperatively verifies the positioning.

3. Mazor X is designed to reduce radiation exposure to patients compared to traditional back surgery.
