The MAKOplasty procedure is powered by the RIO Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic system for precision during the partial knee resurfacing. During the procedure, surgeons replace the damaged area of the knee with a custom implant.
The system allows the surgeon to pre-plan bone preparation and customizes implants using a CT scan of the patient’s knee. During the procedure, the system creates a three-dimensional live-action, virtual view of the patient’s bone surface that correlates with the pre-programmed surgical plan. The system also gives tactile, acoustic and visual feedback limits.
