 Federico P. Girardi, MD (Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City). Dr. Girardi is a spine surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery with a special interest in degenerative spinal procedures, deformity, fractures and tumors. Throughout his career, Dr. Girardi has done extensive clinical research on minimally invasive spine surgery, clinical outcomes for different procedures and spinal imaging modalities.

 

Dr. Girardi also has a research interest in basic science aspects of bone, disc and nerve tissue regeneration and the investigation of alternatives to spinal fusion. He is an associate professor of orthopedics at Weill Cornell Medical College and assistant scientist in Hospital for Special Surgery’s research division. 

 

Dr. Girardi earned his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina and completed his residency at Hospital de Clinicas in Buenos Aires University. His additional training includes a spine and scoliosis surgery fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery.
