Existing Pain Clinics Would Apply for Permits Under Proposed Florida County Ordinance

New and existing pain clinics would be required to apply for permits and renew permits every two years at $200 each under an ordinance proposed by Florida’s Indian River County, according to a TCPalm.com report.

The ordinance would allow a pain clinic operator to appeal a denied or suspended permit at a fee of $800. The permit requirements would help county authorities identify and eliminate illegal pain clinics, according to the report.

While the proposed ordinance targets individual clinics, a recently passed statewide bill targets wholesale distributors and hospitals.

The county currently has a moratorium on new pain clinics, but it will expire in June.
