Mr. Durant underwent the procedure to replace the screw in his surgically repaired foot. Lingering soreness after the initial fracture surgery late last year caused Mr. Durant to seek consultations with Dr. Anderson and Dr. O’Malley. The surgeons saw “there was an opportunity to address irritation from the screw, and make an adjustment to a different piece of hardware within the foot to relieve the symptoms of his soreness,” according to a statement released by Oklahoma City Thunder.
Dr. Anderson is the founding member of the Foot & Ankle Institute at OrthoCarolina and Dr. O’Malley is an associate attending orthopedic surgeon and fellowship director of the Foot and Ankle Service at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
