Mr. Moylan was first diagnosed with tears in his rotator cuff and labrum last January, but has been able to manage the pain with cortisone shots. He was also recovering from spine surgery earlier this year, and has now decided to undergo shoulder surgery to repair the tears.
After surgery, Mr. Moylan is expected to spend about six months recovering from the procedure, and may be able to play catch after three.
