Dr. William Heinz Named Chair to National Federation of State High School Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee

OA Centers for Orthopaedics announced that William Heinz, MD, has been selected by the National Federation of State High School Associations to chair the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, according to a press release on Digital Journal.

In his advisory role, Dr. Heinz will help the NFHS develop policies to best minimize risk to participants using the SMAC nationwide injury database.

Dr. Heinz is a sports medicine physician at OA Centers for Orthopaedics in Maine. He specializes in diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries. He received his medical degree and his residency in internal medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also performed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine.

Dr. Heinz is an adjunct professor at the University of New England and a founding member of the Maine Concussion Management Initiative.
