Dr. Thomas Byrd Performs Hip Surgery on Penguins’ Zbynek Michalek

Thomas Byrd, MD, of Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, recently performed hip surgery on Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek, according to a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review report.

Mr. Michalek missed part of the previous season due to a concussion and broken finger. He will spend time recovering from the procedure and expects to return to play for the start of the 2012-2013 season.
