Dr. Watts suggests cardiac screening can prevent sudden cardiac death in young athletes.

While currently physicians debate the usefulness of cardiac screening because of the cost of 12-lead ECG testing and the varied results of implementation in other countries, Dr. Watts has suggested new diagnostics could improve the accuracy and benefit of screening.

He has promoted the diagnostic PD2i Analyzer from Vicor Technologies, where he serves as director of sports medicine.
