Dr. Sameer Nagda wins gold as US Women’s Soccer team physician during Olympics — 5 key notes

The U.S. Olympic Committee chose Sameer Nagda, MD, of Alexandria, Va.-based Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, to serve as the U.S. Women’s Soccer team physician at the 2016 Olympics, according to Washington Business Journal.

1. Dr. Nagda will serve the soccer team alongside another orthopedic surgeon and a general internal medicine physician.

 

2. He will serve the team for two weeks during the first half of the Olympics.

 

3. Specializing in shoulders, Dr. Nagda has developed a presence in the sports medicine world. He serves as the team physician for the Potomac Nationals and as an assistant team physician for the Washington Nationals. In 2011, Dr. Nagda was a consultant for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. In 2007, Dr. Nagda served as a consultant for the NBA All-Star Game and the FIBA Americas Basketball Championship.

 

4. Dr. Nagda is affiliated with the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, from which he’s received the Neer Award.

 

5. He completed his sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
