1. Dr. Andersen is an orthopedic surgeon and founding member of the Foot & Ankle Institute at Gastonia, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina.
2. He performed ankle surgery to repair Mr. Datsyuk’s ruptured tendons. The injury is a result of a shot Mr. Datsyuk blocked in the last month of the season.
3. Dr. Andersen is also a past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
4. He completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
5. Dr. Andersen also performed ankle surgery on Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera last year.
