The study involved 18 patients who received minimally invasive SI joint fusion procedures with decortication and bone grafting.
The Open Orthopaedics Journal published the results.
Here are three takeaways:
1. The study found 88 percent of patients experienced fusion at 12 months.
2. At 12 months, average back pain decreased from 81.7 to 44.1.
3. Dr. Kube noted no device- or procedure-related adverse events through 12 months.
“This technique minimizes the invasiveness of the procedure without compromising any of the orthopedic principles that provide the foundation for a successful fusion,” said Dr. Kube.
