Dr. Richard Edelson operates on Portland Timbers star Sebastian Blanco

Richard Edelson, MD, repaired the right anterior cruciate ligament of Portland Timbers midfielder Sebastian Blanco, NBC Sports reports.

1. Mr. Blanco tore his ACL in the opening minutes of a match against the Seattle Sounders in early September.

2. Mr. Blanco will be out for about six months.

3. Dr. Edelson is an orthopedic surgeon at Tigard-based Sports Medicine Oregon.

4. He is the chief medical officer and head team physician for the Portland Timbers.
